Duncan Cole is one of Ive's last remaining design colleagues at Apple. Kerr joined Apple in 1999 and played an important role in developing generations of iPhone, iPad and Mac.
A spokesman for Apple, based in Cupertino, Calif., declined to comment.
With the departure of Jobs, Ivy's team, made up of about 24 close employees, was almost completely disbanded. In the years after Ivy quit in 2019, top designers such as Jody Akana, Joe Tan, Anthony Ashcroft, Andre Williams, Jeremy Batalou and Eugene Wang left. Over the past year, there has been a steady brain drain, with key members such as Bart Andre, Colin Burns, Satoshi Aoki and Peter Russell-Clark leaving.
Evans Evans Hankey left Apple last year to succeed Ivy as Apple's head of industrial design. Alan Alan Dye, the company's interface design director, remains in office, but his team has also lost several members in recent months. The last remaining industrial designers of the Ivy era were Richard Howarth, Molly Anderson and Ben Schaefer.
A large part of Apple's team has moved to Ivy's new design company, LoveFrom. The company is working on projects with brands such as Airbnb Inc., Ferrari NV and Moncler SpA. Ivy has been out of the Apple spotlight in recent years, but participated in a joint interview with CEO Tim Cook and Lauren Powell Jobs in 2022.
Over the past year and a half, Apple's designer team has reported directly to Jeff Williams, chief operating officer. This annoys some artists and sculptors who are used to working closely with managers in the design world. According to reports at the time, the brain drain of Apple designers after Ivy left made it impossible for Apple to directly find a replacement for Hankey.
